Deposit
An initial deposit is payable in advance of my commencing work on your project. This will allow me to undertake initial research work for you. Please note that this is not returnable.

Privacy Policy
Any research undertaken for you will abide by the terms of my Privacy Policy. This includes the protection of your personal data and confidentiality.

Any research that I undertake for you is treated in the strictest confidence and will not be shared with third parties without your explicit consent.

As part of my research, it is necessary for some of your personal data to be entered into family history software. This is held on a desktop computer, and backed up securely both online and offline, Other items are held in hard copy only and are stored securely.

I am registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) in the UK as a Data Controller under the terms of the Data Protection Act 1998 and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is a European Union (EU) law that regulates how organizations collect, store, and manage personal data.

Payment
Payment is due on all invoices within 10 working days from the date of the invoice.

VAT
Please note that my business is not currently VAT registered in the UK and therefore VAT does apply to any payments to my business

Changes to my research fees
I reserve the right to review and alter my research fees (and other charges) at any time, but any project that has been commenced will be charged at the rate of research fees agreed at the commence of the project, wherever possible. This ensures transparency and fairness for all parties involved in ongoing projects.

Changes to Third Party Fees and Prices
Where I am purchasing items or services from third parties on your behalf for the research (e.g. civil registration certificates, etc.) and they increase prices, I reserve the right to pass these price changes on to you in full without notice.

Disclaimer
My research for you is based on the resources available to me at the time of the research project. Sadly, some records have not survived or access to them is limited due to privacy laws. New records are being discovered and released to the public all the time, which might further enhance the accuracy of the research at a later date.

I reserve the right to decline any project. If this is the case, I may be able to suggest alternative researchers for you
