Please contact me via email or post to discuss your requirements. Please note that I might not be able to start on your research project right away - if there is likely to be any delay I will advise you. Please note that any work undertaken will be subject to my availability and prior commitments. My expertise is as a historical researcher and therefore I am unable offer a service for tracing living relatives or adoptees. There are other companies and organisations that can offer professional services for this type of research.
As each family story is unique, it is very difficult to give an accurate estimate of how long the research will take - or indeed what I might find! It also depends whether records are available - if they are accessible or have even survived at all! Unfortunately the TV Genealogy programmes make the process look much faster than it is in real life. Although computers have speeded up many aspects of family history research, it takes time to obtain certificates and other documents, visit archives, search through parish records, newspaper reports and other sources. Obviously I will aim to complete your research as soon as practically possible.
Please see the 'Fees and Costs' page for my current charges. I require a small deposit to be paid before I undertake any work for you.
It would be extremely helpful if you supply me with as much information as possible about your family and copies of any relevant documents that you might have (for example, birth, marriage or death certificates). You may have a family bible where it was traditional to write down details of family baptisms, marriages and deaths - a copy of this information could be useful too. Also you may know what religion your ancestors were - this could help speed up the research and help to reduce the costs to you.
Depending on what research services you request from me, I would normally provide you with a written report, and copies of any relevant certificates and other documentation.
